Document publishing and updating system for United Airlines
Docusoft lead the development of the DENTK Publishing Process project. This application automates the publishing process for changes and updates to manuals and documents throughout the corporation. Based on Documentum Desktop Client 4.2. The client software is customized using Visual Basic 6.0 and C# as a “smart client.” Business logic is implemented on the server using Java-based Documentum server methods. This system uses XML in a number of ways. It is based on Documentum's workflow engine, but has been heavily customized to meet the unique, complex needs of the customer.
"...automates the publishing process
for changes and updates to manuals and
documents throughout the corporation."
Simplifying document management at SAIC/NASA
Docusoft developed a prototype for the Electronic Submissions project using JavaServer Faces and DFC. The Electronic Submissions project allows users to submit documents to a repository through a simplified interface, and SAIC was looking for a solution that did not involve the complexity of WDK.
Docusoft also developed a project called the Directives Review Process. DRP is a “workflow” project that allows upper level management to author, review, and approve management directives for NASA, collaborating on the approval process.
Docusoft designed and implemented a Java-based infrastructure that ties into their current implementation using Documentum lifecycles. The technologies developed include a DmBasic to Java communication layer using Documentum Server Methods, a custom Documentum job wrapper including advanced reporting, an architecture for extending base DFC objects to include custom types, and an email notification system using XHTML, Documentum metadata, and JavaMail.
The DRP project is based on highly customized Webtop, and upon completion of the email notifications.
"...allows upper level management
to author, review, and approve
management directives..."
CSC application migration to Documentum 4i and Oracle 8
This project involved quickly transitioning a mission critical application to the CSC Gas and Oil Office located in Columbus, Ohio. The application, “EnFile”, was a hybrid application of almost 500,000 lines of code consisting with an infrastructure of Documentum 3.1.5.2.c, Oracle 7.3, and several custom front end and back end routines, written in C++ and Visual Basic.
Within 48 hours, Docusoft provided CSC with the names of five qualified architects, and upon selection, the most desirable candidate was on-site within the next 48 hours. The Docusoft Sr. Documentum Developer quickly reviewed the application and within two weeks went to Houston TX for a first hand “ due diligence” review of the application and its processes.
Within four weeks of joining the CSC team, a detailed transition plan was provided for review and approval. The transition plan included migration to Documentum 4i and Oracle 8, both essential to maintaining this mission critical application. The time-phased transition plan was approved and the CSC and Docusoft team proceeded with a smoothly, coordinated effort that resulted in a highly successful outsourcing effort.
"smoothly, coordinated effort...highly successful"
